From the Riverbanks of Budhi Gandaki to Nepal’s Great Rivers

Subash Adhikari is a river professional, adventure entrepreneur, and the founder of Budhi Gandaki Rafting. Born in the Budhi Gandaki region of Nepal, his connection with the river began at an early age. That lifelong connection later became the inspiration behind the company’s name and its commitment to Nepal’s rivers.

With 17 years of experience on Nepal’s rivers, Subash’s journey began far from where he is today. He started his career in the adventure industry working as a Guide where he learned the importance of hard work, discipline, teamwork, and hospitality.

Step by step, he gained practical experience in river operations, rafting equipment, logistics, guiding, safety, and guest service. Years of dedication, learning, and passion for Nepal’s rivers eventually led him to establish his own rafting company.

Experience Built on Nepal’s Rivers

Throughout his career, Subash has travelled and worked on some of Nepal’s most spectacular and challenging rivers, including Budhi Gandaki, Seti Karnali, Karnali, Humla Karnali, Sunkoshi, Tamur, Thulo Bheri, and Babai.

His experience ranges from accessible day rafting trips to remote, multi-day river expeditions. This has given him a practical understanding of changing river conditions, remote environments, expedition logistics, local communities, and the importance of professional river safety.

For Subash, rafting is more than a business. It is a way of life shaped by the river.

Today, he leads Budhi Gandaki Rafting together with a dedicated team of experienced river guides, safety kayakers, and adventure professionals who share the same commitment to safety, hospitality, and responsible river travel.

From his early days as a porter and dishwasher to leading a professional rafting company, Subash’s journey reflects the spirit of Nepal’s adventure industry: hard work, experience, passion, and respect for the river.
