The Seti Karnali Fishing Expedition – 8 Days is a remote wilderness fishing adventure through the spectacular river landscapes of western Nepal. The journey begins in Kathmandu, with a domestic flight to Dhangadhi, followed by an overland transfer to the Seti River.
The expedition combines dedicated fishing sessions with river travel, wilderness camping, and exploration of the Seti and Karnali River systems. Anglers have opportunities to target Golden Mahseer, Goonch, and other native Himalayan river fish, depending on the season, river conditions, and local regulations.
The journey continues downstream toward Chisapani, where the river adventure concludes. From Chisapani, the group travels by road to Nepalgunj and takes a domestic flight back to Kathmandu.
The Seti and Karnali are natural wilderness rivers, and conditions can change rapidly. For this reason, the itinerary is flexible and safety always takes priority.
The final route, camping locations, fishing spots, river activities, and transportation arrangements may be modified by the expedition leader according to weather, river levels, road conditions, local regulations, and other circumstances.
Golden Mahseer and other river fish are wild animals, so fish sightings and catches are not guaranteed. Our team follows responsible fishing practices and encourages catch-and-release fishing wherever appropriate and permitted.
Participants should follow the instructions of the expedition leader and river guides throughout the trip. The goal is to provide an authentic, responsible, and memorable fishing experience while respecting the rivers, wildlife, local communities, and natural environment of western Nepal.

Best Season
The best time for the Seti Karnali Fishing Expedition is generally during Nepal's post-monsoon and pre-monsoon periods, when river conditions can provide good opportunities for fishing and comfortable outdoor travel.
Autumn (October–November) offers clear weather, pleasant temperatures, and generally improving river conditions after the monsoon.
Spring (March–May) is another suitable period, with warmer temperatures and good opportunities for river fishing before the summer monsoon.
Fishing conditions vary considerably with water level, weather, river temperature, fish movement, and local regulations. Therefore, the exact fishing locations and techniques may be adjusted during the expedition.
Packing correctly is important for a comfortable and safe Seti Karnali Fishing Expedition. The journey combines domestic flights, 4WD travel, river fishing, wilderness camping, and a final road transfer from Chisapani to Nepalgunj. We recommend keeping your main luggage light and bringing a small waterproof day bag for fishing and river activities.
If you prefer to use your own fishing equipment, we recommend bringing:
Note: Fishing methods, equipment, hooks, bait, and target species must comply with applicable local regulations. Please confirm with our team before bringing specialized equipment.
Western Nepal can be warm during the day but conditions can change around the river and during camping.
Bring clothing that can dry quickly and is suitable for getting wet during river activities.
Avoid loose flip-flops during river activities.
Our expedition team provides the main camping equipment required for the organized expedition.
Keep electronics inside waterproof bags when travelling near the river.
Please inform the expedition team in advance about any important allergies, dietary requirements, or medical considerations relevant to your participation.
For this expedition, we recommend bringing:
1 main duffel/backpack: clothing and personal equipment
1 waterproof daypack: daily fishing and river essentials
1 waterproof dry bag: phone, camera, documents, and other valuables
Keep your luggage compact because some sections involve 4WD transportation, camping, river travel, and domestic flights.
